Fushiki-Toyama Port

Fushiki-Toyama Port, located roughly in the center of Honshu, the main island of Japan, has been thriving as the chief port on the Japan Sea Coast since the olden days because of its geographical advantage.

In 1986, Fushiki-Toyama Port received national recognition as a Special Important Port for its role in international trade, and then became an International Base Port through the revision of the Ports and Harbors Act in April 2011.

In November 2011, Fushiki-Toyama Port was designated as a Comprehensive Hub Port on the Sea of Japan, as well as a base port in three categories; International Maritime Containers, international ferries and international ro-ro ships, and ocean-going cruises (tourist cruises).

Moving forward, while we further work with the economic development of prospering countries on neighboring shores for Japan's growth, we strive to contribute to the Japanese economy by strengthening the international competitiveness of Japan Sea ports and promoting tourism. In addition, we will continue to expand our facilities, as we bear the important role of building a distribution network resilient to disasters by strengthening our function as a viable alternative to the ports and harbors on the Pacific Ocean.
